Up to that point I had been exploring various application programs that displayed digital photos from my growing set of family digitized photos. Shortly thereafter, I started using my software engineering background to gain experience in writing applications for Microsoft's .NET architecture. These two efforts, combined with my increasing frustration with existing picture display programs, soon merged into a goal of developing a picture display program that incorporated the best features of all the picture display programs I could find.

Based upon repeated testing, input from a variety of users, and comparison to other similar software, it became apparent that this program, now called PicViewPlus, was not only something I was finally happy with, but was also better than virtually any other similar product on the market. Thinking others might also enjoy the benefits this program had to offer, I decided to offer this program as shareware via company LinkWise Software.
